Kid Stuff

Well, we were one bunch of crazy, funny, silly, shy, sweet kids who grew up in the country. One house next door; highway a way down the gravel road.
This picture is of: Me (Deb),Denise "Dennie", Keith, Mitch posing in our yard in the 70's. (Yuh think?) Check out the clothes! Especially Mitch's pants!!!
This is where we really grew up. We were toddlers when our parents were building our ranch style house out on the County Line Road. We lived in a freaky little house off the Hwy. 14 with a little tree in front (limbs low enough for us to climb up into and sit). There was a HUGE ditch or so it seemed since the real highway was up a bit from the house (which was quite close to the Hwy. 14).  Anyway, we weren't allowed to go beyond the edge of the gulley up toward the highway.  Big trucks went by lotsa times while we were out sitting in that little tree eating beanie weanies. That was cool coz Mom wouldn't let us take out snacks much but I remember she did let us take out those little cans of beanie weanies and we'd sit it that little midget tree watching cars and big trucks go by. We had a German Shepherd named Lady and she was black, white, and maybe some brown. But she LOVED US! She was a wonderful little mother outside keeping us out of the highway while Mom watched out the window and said, "Git em, Lady!"... ha
She was faithful and even Daddy liked her. One night when my parents had company (I think it was Uncle Doc, Aunt Minnie, Scotty, and Suzy - my Uncle, Aunt, and 2 cousins). The grown ups were playing cards and we kids were just playing around like little jugheads. When the visiting party readied to leave, our beloved Lady somehow ran into the highway and was killed. We were all crying. Even Daddy cried. It was a very sad moment in our lives I will never ever forget. Maybe I didn't get all the details right, but basically, that's what happened. Lady was a TRUE LADY!
